Party! Party!

Finn celebrated his first birthday with the family and truly enjoyed himself. He loved being sung to and dug right into his first bites of cake and real sugar! I think Finn is going to share his mom's sweet tooth. Finn got lots of great gifts including a new red wagon, a swing set for the yard, new Converse that he immediately proceeded to chew on and some interactive toys and music play tables. We can't wait to open all of these this summer especially while Daddy is home doing daddy day care.

Memorial Day Cape Cod Extravaganza

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend hanging out with friends at our Cape house. On Sunday, we were joined by Lisa, Mike and Lily, Starvish and Shelley and the Wasik clan (Stef, Brian, Miller and Anna). We managed to get all the troops to the beach for a 2 hour stay and the weather was perfect and even warm enough for most people to swim. I think it was a little hot for Finn on the beach but he liked his tent and even took a 45 min nap in it. After the beach we headed back to the house where Finn had a blast in his own pool and Miller (age 3) supplied an abundance of beach toys for Finn to play with in the pool. We finished the day off with an amazing meal of ribs, clams, mussels, cod, veggies and lisa's yummy strawberry dessert. As you can see from the picture we even managed to have a sit down dinner with all the kids.
On Saturday, it was a little cooler, but Mike, Lisa, and Lily joined us for a brisk walk to the beach and Finn experienced putting his feet in the sand for the first time. He absolutely loved it! We were not surprised when after only a few minutes of feeling the sand with his fingers, he proceeded to try to eat it. I was hoping that after one taste, he would spit it out and lose interest but not our little Finn. He didn't seem to mind it at all and kept trying to eat more. Isn't there protein in sand? It should make for an interesting summer but we can't wait for many more trips to the beach!
Oh and as you can see from the pictures, Finn and Lily took their first bath together. They loved it!

Happy First Birthday, Finn!

I can't believe it but our little Finn is now one year old! He came into this world one year ago weighing 2 lbs 4 oz and 15 inches long. He is now over 23 lbs and about 30 inches! In honor of his birthday, here are a few pictures of the last few months showing the many faces of Finn's personality and sunny disposition. He really is a happy boy and quite the ham. He loves everyone he meets and is already working on his flirting skills. He is so much fun to hang out with these days and truly feels like my buddy. Even going to the grocery store is a blast now since he loves to "talk" to and squeal at other kids in the shopping carts.
For his official birthday, we are not doing too much and actually bringing Finn to our Ultimate Frisbee game. But he will have his official party with family next Saturday on the 12th at Auntie Erin and Uncle Steve's house.
We feel so blessed and grateful to be able to celebrate this huge milestone with our amazing little fighter and can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays to come.

Big boy bath

Finn outgrew his baby tub about a month ago but since he is still a little wobbly in a sitting position, we use a bath seat in the tub. He loves his baths now and can sit on his own in the seat splashing around, playing with his cup and bath book. He actually took his first shower with Mommy in the outdoor shower at the Cape this past weekend and didn't mind it at all.
We also introduced Finn to another form of water and brought him to the pool at our gym a few weeks ago. He didn't mind it at all but we're not sure he really liked it since he just had a stoic look on his face and didn't seem to notice he was in a pool. It was family swim and filled with lots of kids and noise so he may have just been taking it all in but the amount of excitement he showed, honestly we might as well been sitting on the couch. :) But he didn't cry, so we consider that a victory and are definitely eager to bring him back.
